Communicate tobe understood.

Repeating yourself does not mean your audience has understood you. Andrew explains how to make your message clearer and meet people at their level.

And if you find yourself repeating yourself over and over again, chances are you need to take a step back and question: how well am I communicating to this audience? If I come in here and I speak about the same topic in Dutch, and none of you understand it, no communication has taken place. And so, for many of us, we are talking and we are mistaking it for communication.

Earlier I mentioned to you: communication is like water. The last time I remember, we couldn’t drink water from the tap because it could be murky, could have things, some bubbles, and it’s unclear.

And so I want to ask you today to think about how you can be effective in your communication skills. How can you make your communication skills clearer, so that what I say and what you understand are one and the same thing?

How do we get to doing that? We start working on our communication skills. And working on our communication skills starts with you, number one, knowing your audience. What is your audience interested in? And then meeting them at the level at which they are, not at the level at which you are—at the level at which they are.

Winning in the age of AI

Leadership

Leadership Is a Verb

Redefining leadership for a changing world

People experience leadership through what we do with responsibility: the decisions we make, the conversations we have and the commitments we keep.

In the room The audience identifies one leadership behaviour they need to make visible.

What the audience takes away

Leadership shows in what people repeatedly do, especially when things get difficult. This keynote turns it from a title into a daily practice.

  • Translate leadership values into visible behaviour
  • Build trust and accountability through daily practice
  • Lead through uncertainty with conviction, openness and empathy

Ideal for executives, managers, emerging leaders and high-potential talent.
